Real driving emissions strategies in heavy-duty vehicles

Bharat Stage 6 Emission Norms will require Real Driving Emissions as an additional type approval requirement from April 2023 in India. There is a significant requirement for reduction in exhaust gas emissions from Bharat stage 4 to Bharat stage 6. Several changes in engine constructions, tuning of the engine, valve, and ignition timing need to be adjusted. Moreover, after treatment device such as catalytic converter, selective catalytic reduction, Diesel particulate filter, exhaust gas recirculation needs to be adopted to meet these norms. Real Driving Emissions takes into account the road profile, the ambient conditions, traffic situations, drivers' behavior, and their influence on emission values. This new test requires equipment called Portable Emission Measurement system which comprises of exhaust flow meter, exhaust gas analyzer, global positioning system, ambient temperature, and ambient pressure sensor, OBD data acquisition device, and connection with vehicle ECU. The overall trip duration shall be between 90-120 minutes which consists of urban, rural, and highway driving. Thus accurate planning of route is required to reduce test failure risk and consequently experimental cost. When the driving conditions like ambient temperature and altitude are changed in order to check for different and extended conditions then there is a change in test results which are called extended test results. In recent studies, it was found that NOx emission was relatively higher compared to the expected result in urban conditions. This is due to constant low speed, deceleration, and acceleration. Thus conformity factor for NOx emissions varies from one emission regulation to another. The aim of this paper is to present the basics of Real driving conditions.

COVI SCAN (Face mask detection and social distancing violation detection)

COVID-19 pandemic is a great humanitarian challenge faced by the world today. The pandemic has spread widely causing the world to halt and the number of cases continues to rise. Governments all around the world are working to slow down if not completely stop the spread of this pandemic. Many protocols have been implemented, crucial ones are face masks and social distancing. Since social distancing and wearing a mask are the only monitored ways to avoid the infection till vaccinations become accessible to all. Real times mask detection and social distance violation using computer vision and deep learning techniques. For face mask detection we collected a dataset consisting of with-mask and without-mask labels.

Optimization of Sinter FeO at Sinter Plant, Tata Steel Kalinga Nagar

The analysis presented herein shows that the impact of sinter FeO on BF fuel rate is more significant at higher productivity levels (greater driving rates) than sinter RDI. Since typical levers to control sinter RDI are not available (gangue content, etc.) at Tata Steel Kalinganagar (TSK) due to the significant proportion of sinter in the BF burden, controlling sinter RDI at present in TSK requires higher heat input during sintering, which, generally leads to higher sinter FeO. From the data analysis, the suggested band of operation for sinter FeO is 10.4 – 10.8%. In this band of sinter FeO, the RI value can be maintained at 73.5-75.5% with RDI ~ 28-32%. Considering the narrower band of sinter FeO that is preferable for blast furnace operation, there is a scope to reduce carbon rate by 3- 4 kg/t GSn (tonne of Gross Sinter) from its present level of operation (62 kg/t GSn to 58 kg/t GSn average) at the sinter plant.

An analysis of usage of Integrated Marketing Communications by Political parties to Influence Voters in Tamil Nadu and Kerala in assembly elections 2021

Today it is necessary to take a fresh look at the communications process and strategy adopted by different political parties to reach out to their voters (consumers). Many political parties have developed a systematic approach to gain the support of voters. The process of reaching out to voters occurs not merely during the elections but is a process that goes on throughout the year. This research paper aims to analyze usage of Integrated Marketing Communications of Major Political Parties on Consumers (Voters) in Tamil Nadu and Kerala in recent assembly elections 2021

Seismic activity of overhead storage tank by fem analysis

The overhead water tank consists of a tank supported by a scaffolding system composed of columns, braces, and foundations. Overhead water storage tanks have generally performed well in seismic zones. Even so, a large number of tank collapses have been discovered during earthquakes from, as early as the San Francisco earthquake (1906) to the Bhuj earthquake (2001). The observed damage in recent earthquakes shows that it is necessary to choose new methods for transformation while designing the structures. In many earthquake-prone countries, water tanks are continuously being retrofitted or build with control devices to decrease caused stresses, displacements, and base shear during seismic activity. A good perceptive of the seismic behavior of these important structures is necessary in order to meet up safety objectives while containing construction and maintenance. In this paper, we studied circular and rectangular overhead water tanks with different water levels. The static and dynamic analyses of time history were performed on the tanks. The different cases depending on water levels as 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% filled were studied. In this project base shear variation, time period for different mode shapes, time history for different earthquakes were calculated by using SAP2000.

Tamper Detection of Social Media Images using CNN

Images are often manipulated with the intent and purpose of benefiting one party. images are often seen as evidence of a fact or reality, therefore, fake news or any form of publication that uses images that have been manipulated in such a way has the greater capability and potential to mislead. The web permits clients to process any type of digital media within seconds all over the globe. With expanding utilization of digital multimedia contents like pictures and video, the techniques for detecting the digital image forgery have also increased parallelly. people tamper with images to make the image look more pleasant for appearance but it is susceptible if one changed someone’s face within the image and misuses it. Hence this demands automatic tools for identifying the difference between authentic and tampered images. To detect such image falsification, a large amount of image data is required, and a model can process each pixel in the image. In addition, efficiency and flexibility in data training are also needed to support its use in everyday life. The concept of big data and deep learning is the perfect solution to this problem. Therefore, with an Error Level Analysis (ELA), Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)
