Study on dimensional stones available in Southern Asia with specific reference to granite waste

Dimensional stones are used primarily in buildings and construction industry. Almost all the buildings exhibit stones that are shaped, cut or polished for the walls, floors, columns and steps. There are a large number of dimensional stones available in southern Asia such as sandstone, slate, marble, granite, gneiss, etc. which produces huge amount of waste in their manufacturing, cutting and polishing. This waste is dumped in the fields openly and it causes major environmental problems such as land infertility, loss of land infiltration, air pollution, problem in breathing, etc. India has large reserves of granite and huge amount of waste is produced that’s why we have worked on granite specifically. Granite is a coarse grained rock composed mostly of quartz, alkali, feldspar and plagioclase. Green granite is hard enough to resist abrasion, strong enough to bear significant weight, inert enough to resist weathering and it accepts a brilliant polish. Granite is an igneous volcanic rock having good compressive strength and it has always been used in the concrete as a replacement for fine aggregate. But in this research, we have replaced the granite with the cementitious material that is, the cement. For this, we have replaced the granite with cement by 0%, 5%, 10% and 15%. Detailed study has been done to investigate the fresh, mechanical and physical properties of granite waste powder, the compatibility of use of granite waste powder in concrete. Analysis of the fresh, mechanical and physical properties of concrete mixes designed with different mix proportioning quantities with the use of granite waste powder as a cementitious material.

Knowledge and perception on COVID vaccination among adults

COVID is a devastating pandemic that we haven't dreamed of it in 21 st century. Being in this era, man couldn’t able to control its spread despite various researches and advanced technologies. At present, vaccines are the most effective means of health measures to protect the public from the pandemic. The present study is carried out to assess the knowledge and perception of Covid vaccination among adults. A Quantitative research approach with a descriptive design was adopted in this study. A structured knowledge questionnaire and 5-point Likert scale to assess perception on Covid vaccination are used to assess the knowledge and perception on Covid vaccination. The findings reveal that 54 % of participants had moderate knowledge, 33% had adequate knowledge and 13 % of them had inadequate knowledge on Covid vaccination. Regarding perception, 35% of the participants had medium perception, 27% of them had high perception, 29% of them had very high perception, 9% had low perception on Covid vaccination. A positive relationship (r=0.87, -1 r  1)had been found between knowledge and perception on covid vaccination. Adequate awareness regarding covid vaccination among rural areas helps to improve the acceptance rate and thereby pandemics can be kept under control.

Correlation of neck pain and low back pain with Physical activity among dentists in Latur City

BACKGROUND: Back pain represents one of the most common diseases across various populations of workers worldwide. Musculoskeletal pain is related with dental practice, with lower back pain being the most commonly reported. This study analyzes the correlation and the severity of back pain, based on selected demographic variables, and relationship with physical activity among dentists. There is a substantial relationship between work-related back pain and sitting posture. No association was found between sex and existence of pain. METHODOLOGY: The study included 100 professionally active dentists,38 males 62 females, from MIDSR dental college and dental clinics in Latur city. Validated psychometric tools, namely;1) for evaluation of disability due to neck pain and back pain-neck disability index [NDI], oswestry disability index[ODI] respectively,2) for physical activity – international physical activity questionnaire[IPAQ] were used. CONCLUSION: The study findings confirm that the pain in neck and lumbar area represents a serious occupational problem in a large percentage of dentists. Limitation of physical activity leads to more frequent back pain.

Browsing Issues in Large Displays

The internet access is increasingly shifting from the traditional desktop displays to high-resolution giant screen displays. While websites are not optimized for such giant screens, it often delivers a distorted, disconnected and annoying user experience. The challenge in a large display is related to content scaling and placing them on the predictable places to gain visibility. There is a limited research done in this area and we attempted a series of studies in establishing the challenges a user faces while browsing on a large display. We conducted 3 independent pilot studies to understand the problem and discussed the need to create web design guidelines for large displays.

Study of seismic response between fixed and isolated bases in RC structure having plan irregularity

The base isolation technique is one of the most widely used earthquake-resistant methods in designing structures. In this study, a G+15 RC structure is considered and modeled for the fixed base and isolated bases i.e., Lead Rubber Bearing (LRB) and High Damping Rubber Bearing (HDRB) using Etabs v19.1.0. The models are then analyzed and the seismic response of the structure is obtained by using equivalent static method and response spectrum method. The results, thus, obtained are compared and graphs of story displacement, story drift, storey shear, and storey acceleration are plotted for the fixed base and isolated bases. From this study, it is evident from the analysis that, the use of base isolation systems helps the structure from being majorly damaged, especially in higher seismic zones.

Coalitions politics in India: Challenges and its impacts on society

In comparison to other countries, India is pigeonholed by more ethnic and religious groups. Many thinkers regard India as a fascinating place where people of all communities and religions coexist together. The Indian population is polygenetic, with a fascinating mix of ethnicities and civilizations. There are eight "main" faiths, 15 languages spoken in diverse dialects, and a large number of tribes and sects, in addition to multiple castes. How does the coalition government affect the responsiveness of coalition parties to voters? We want to learn more about the relationship between political parties' participation in multiparty governments in this essay as well as their voter receptivity We propose that the divisiveness of policy problems inside the cabinet, as well as ministerial responsibility for policies, influence the amount to which coalition parties respond to voters' policy priorities. To test our hypotheses, we combine data from the Comparative Manifestos Project on issue attention of 55 coalition parties with data on government composition and voter policy priorities from the Comparative Study of Electoral Systems and various election studies from 1972 to 2011 in 45 elections across 16 European countries. Any party can win a majority in the lower house; if they do not, political parties create coalitions in order to secure a majority in the lower house and form a government. The nature, problems, and prospects of coalition governments in the Indian political process will be examined in this research paper. The study of the multi-party system, the emergence of regionalism, and its impact on the pattern of Centre-State interactions are important. Furthermore, because the national government was led by a coalition or minority administration for three decades, from 1989 to 2014, there was no national consensus on a parliamentary majority. Congress ruled from 1952 to 1977 and 1980 to 1989.
