Finite element parametric study on the performance of strip footings on a purely frictional soil using plaxis 2D

Traditionally the design of shallow foundations has been conducted using conventional theories and empirical methods, based on foundation bearing capacity and settlement calculations including those provided by Terzaghi, Meyerhof, or Hansen (Smith, I., (2015) and it has been considered that numerical analysis for such simple problems would not be cost or time effective. This research paper proposes that numerical analysis can also be used to provide a quick and cost-effective tool for the Geotechnical Engineer to design a shallow foundation, that could be used to verify the design of a shallow foundation using conventional theories and empirical methods, and thus would lead to satisfying the requirement for the second method of verification as outlined in Eurocode 7 (EC7).

Stabilization of subgrade soil with lime and coir

The establishment of any nation majorly depends upon transportation, import, and export. One in every of the big transport systems that connects all the agricultural and concrete areas is pavement. Rumenerative of road leads to increases country’s profitable growth with full load acting upon the road would be evenly distributed between this sub-graded layer, because the clayey loam has a low limit of capacity thus abundant material such as coconut coir and lime can be used to the strength of the subgrade layer. The clayey soil goes through unrestrained volumetric changes making their utilization within the construction engineering science project burdensome. The properties of clay particles will be modified in many ways such as mechanically, chemically as well as thermally. Thus stabilization of soil techniques is necessary in order to gain stability of the soil so that it can easily withstand the loads acting upon the super-structure.

Rhizobium bio-fertilizer technology increases yield of Groundnut and subsequent crop

Agriculture is the only basis for feeding humanity. Adoption of modern agricultural practices and use of technology is inadequate in India. Arachis hypogea L. (Groundnut) belongs to family Fabaceae. It is an annual. The roasted seeds are edible. Oil is extracted from the seeds and used as fine cooking medium. Vegetable ghee (peanut butter) is also prepared from this oil. The oil cake is fed to the livestock. It is rich in fatty acids and proteins. The major constraints of Groundnut production in India are unreliable rain fall pattern, pest and diseases, socio-economic status of farmers, failure of communication media to reach in the area, lack of awareness and traditional mind psychology of farmers about improved agro-practices (Baldeo Sigh 1990). The chemical fertilizers cause impact on soil micro flora and fauna. In such situation it is need of the day to develop new easy low cost eco-friendly Rhizobium bio-fertilizer technology for Groundnut and residual effect of Rhizobium culture on yield of wheat, rice or subsequent crop etc. is always higher (Raverkar, K. P. and Konde, B. K. 1988). Present research work shows application of Rhizobium bio-fertilizer technology for Groundnut seeds and to study the increase in yield of pods during the crop season 2018. It was observed that, the yield increases by 20 to 25 %.

Performance Measurement of Cost and Schedule Analysis by using Earned Value Management for a Commercial Building in Primavera-P6

Construction industry is a main part of a nation’s foundation and modern growth. Even construction industry is the second biggest industry in India, the development of this industry has been differential the country over. Project cost and time is the critical factor as its overrun /under run which is directly impact on total project duration and cost. So, main preference wants to give for cost & time. For this, one of the best tools for analysing and measuring the efficiency of construction projects. Earned Value Management (EVM) is best method to tracking the progress in the construction project. Earned Value Management (EVM) is a system to extent performance and progress for your project. The basic principle of Earned Value is that the cost is relative to the work. It reflects time and cost factors to evaluate the efficiency and estimate completion time and costs. The main aim of our study is evaluating the cost and schedule for a commercial building by using earned value management. The present study deals with the project tracking process of “Earn Value Management”, a thirteen storeyed (G+12) commercial building whose construction is in progress at Pune. By using this process it can capable to find and control the delays and serious issues regarding time and cost. Primavera p6 is used in this analysis of cost, schedule & tracking of a project. Comparing to manual calculation, Primavera-P6 is an effective way to calculate Earned Value Analysis for the projects. It confirms whether our project is on schedule and on time, on budget.

Intelligent assistance and object detection for visually impaired people

This paper is intended to design a smart cane that helps visually-impaired people to walk more confidently. The study hypothesizes that a smart cane that alerts visually-impaired people about obstacles in front. The system is intended to provide artificial vision and object detection, real time assistance via GPS by making use of Raspberry Pi. The system consists of GPS module, and the feedback is received through audio, voice output works through TTS (text to speech). The proposed system detects an object around them and sends feedback in the form of speech and also provides navigation to specific location through GPS. Smart Stick is a device designed to aid the visually impaired person by detecting objects and portray the information to them in the form of speech. This reduces the human effort and gives better understanding of the surrounding. Furthermore it also provides an opportunity for visually impaired people to move from one place to another without being assisted by others. The device can also be used in old age homes where old age people have difficulty in their day to day activities due to decreased vision. The main focus here is to aid people in need to “see” the surroundings. Considering the growth in the field of artificial intelligence and features like object detection is getting easier and computationally feasible, these features are implemented in the proposed system. The main focus is on object detection and classification on pictures which are captured by the device mounted on a stick. This interpreted information can then be relayed to the user in means of sound or speech.

Efficacy of pilates and MC Kenzie exercises on patients with chronic low back pain – A comparative study

The major health issue of human being is lower back pain disease caused by various Lifestyle activities and occupational adaptation. People who continue to in same poster throughout the day like computer professionals and shops may be the major victims of this chronic disease process. Objectives : The study aims to produce the different kinds of Management techniques to deal with chronic low back pain and compared their effects on the pain relieving and core muscle strengthening. Methodology: The study focused on 40 subject into two groups such as group A and group B respectively treated with Pilates and Mc kenzie exercise on management and and core strengthening. The effects of the both types of treatments more assessed by visual analogue scale, back performance scale score and Roland Morris disability questionnaire. Result and Conclusion: As per the various statistical analyses, it was found that both the methods are less effective for relieving pain and group A got effective improvement in core muscle strength. So as this study conclude that the alternative hypothesis has been accepted.
