Static structural analysis of brake disc for FSAE vehicle

The paper presents the design and analysis of disc brake for FSAE competitions. Finite element analysis to evaluate the performance under severe braking conditions by comparing two materials. Grey Cast iron and stainless steel are used as disc brake materials. DS Solidworks 2020 and ANSYS 19.2 are used to design and carry out the analysis for determining the distribution of forces, variation of stresses, and deformation across the disc brake. The most reliable and efficient material of disc brake which can survive severe braking conditions which are required in FSAE competitions is determined. Static structural analysis has been carried out using the axis-symmetric finite elements. To get appropriate results the model is divided into discrete elements so that the forces are applied effectively in each region

Block-wise data hiding using an improved flipping algorithm for image steganography

Image steganography algorithms hide the secret data in the cover image and give the stego image in the output. The visual quality is degraded due to data hiding. In the literature, the flipping algorithm is the most preferred data hiding algorithm to reduce the variability. In this algorithm, the secret data is flipped if the variability between the cover and stego image is greater than 50%. In our work, we have enhanced this algorithm and designed an improved flipping algorithm. In the proposed algorithm, the cover image is processed in blocks and each block variability is determined. If the variability of the block is higher than the threshold value then secret data is flipped and hide in the cover image. Thus, in the proposed algorithm, in some blocks, secret data is hidden in the original form and some blocks in flipped form. In the last, we have performed the experimental results on the standard dataset images and various parameters calculated. The result shows that the proposed algorithm enhances the visual quality of the cover image as compared to the existing algorithms. However, in the proposed algorithm need to communicate information with the receiver, the data is hidden in the original or flipped form.

Static structural analysis of simply supported beam with distributed load

This paper studies the maximum & minimum deformation and stress analysis of a Simply Supported Beam with an evenly distributed load which comes under Static Structure analysis. The theoretical calculations are done by using the general formulae. The computative analysis is done on ANSYS 2021 R1 (Student Version) software. Comparing the theoretical results with analytical results to those obtained from the software are approximately the same.

Rebar CAD/CAM system

Improper way of using steel reinforcement in concrete incurs undue wastage of money in the construction projects. Wastage of rebar can be realized even at the design stage and can propagate through every stage of the construction process. The study respondents were contractor’s and consultant’s managers, designers, bar benders, supervisors, and quantity surveyors. Central value analysis, correlation, and regression analysis were conducted on the data collected, using Rebar Cad/Cam software to confirm the factors influencing the wastage of steel. The cost estimated in the bill of quantity and the final costs after the provision of the steel with any alterations were compared and the reasons for cost overrun were analyzed.

Structural analysis of index finger assembly of the robot

An index finger of a robot fits in a palm whose function is to perform a certain task or to touch any object for sensing it. The finger is mostly made up of ABS (Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene) is a low-cost engineering thermoplastic that is easily machined. The assembly consists of the Front piece, Middle piece, Lower piece, Servo Motor, and Motor handle. The main aim of the paper is to evaluate the structural analysis of Index Finger Assembly. Input will be the Index Finger Assembly SOLIDWORKS model and the outputs will be Total deformation, Stress, and Strain plots. The model and analysis are performed using SOLIDWORKS and ANSYS Workbench. Structural analysis is performed on Index Finger Assembly with ABS (Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene) and Structural Steel material to validate Equivalent stress, Equivalent elastic strain, and Total Deformation.

Effect of applied rotational velocity in finite element analysis

A highly important research issue in this modern world is stress on the connecting shaft when a rotational velocity is applied to one of the gears connected to the shaft. This project aims on finding the variation in stress, deformation, and fatigue when two different rotational velocities are acted on the gear. The finite element analysis method takes at one place a single complicated shape with an approximately equivalent network of simple elements. The overall pattern of elements is referred to as a finite element mesh. For the solution to be uniquely defined the boundary conditions are to be specified. In the given project an end of the shaft is fixed to get the deformation of the assembly after rotational velocity is applied. The components were modeled and assembled in FUSION 360 and the analysis was done in ANSYS software workbench interface.
