Decentralized applications and interplanetary filesystem

A new model for building enormously adaptable and gainful applications is developing. Bitcoin prepared with its cryptographically put away record, rare resource model, and distributed innovation. These highlights give a beginning stage to building another sort of programming called decentralized applications, or dapps. Dapps are quite recently picking up media scope yet will sometime turn out to be more broadly utilized than the world's most mainstream web applications. They are more adaptable, straightforward, dispersed, flexible, and have a superior boosted structure than current programming models.

Design, analysis and optimization of three aluminum piston alloys using FEA

The presented paper uses the Finite Element Method (FEM) to analyze the thermal stress and distribution of three different aluminum alloys. The simulations are carried out by evaluating the parameters like gas pressure, temperature and material properties of the Piston. The four-stroke engine of Bajaj Pulsar 220CC is used to study the analysis procedure for aluminum alloy piston. The resulting analysis will give the prediction of critical region and maximum stress. It is important to locate the critical area of concentrated stress for appropriate modifications. Static and thermal stress analysis is performed by using ANSYS 14.1. The analysis result will help to choose the best aluminum alloy material. The analysis results are used to optimize piston geometry of best aluminum alloy.

Analysis of multi-layered perceptron, radial basis function and convolutional neural networks in recognizing handwritten digits

Identification of handwritten digits is one of the major areas of research in the field of character recognition. Artificial Neural Networks helps in computer vision that deals with how a computer could achieve high-level of understanding from digital images or videos. Thus, neural networks prove to be a boon in recognizing handwritten digits that are scanned as images. However, this paper aims at studying the working of specifically three neural networks - Multi-Layered Perceptron (MLP), Radial Basis Function (RBF) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). In order to focus majorly on the implementation of these three neural networks rather than the complexity of the dataset being used, we have used MNIST (Modified National Institute of Standard and Technology) dataset from keras library. MNIST dataset contains 70,000 black and white images of handwritten English digits (60,000 training images and 10,000 testing images). In our study of the above three mentioned neural networks, we have used relu as activation function in the hidden layers and softmax as activation function in the final layer of neural network, adam as an optimizer and cross-entropy as loss function. We have observed that all three networks give accuracy above 95%, however, the major difference is in its training time and error rate.

Production loss management using line balancing and cycle time reduction

Profit is life-line of any business. Profit can be increased by minimizing the losses in production and continuous improvement in quality. Losses will have a negative impact on the productivity and quality of the products produced by any organization. If cycle time is used as one the tool to measure each workstation’s productivity, then reducing the cycle time at the workstation will minimize the time loss in production thereby increasing the productivity. The workstation which takes the longest cycle time will be the critical process or bottleneck process. Also, line balancing is used as one of the effective tools for reducing the cycle time. So, the productivity can be increased only if the critical process is ‘debottlenecked.’ The line efficiency also improves. This paper is aimed at identifying bottleneck workstations with the longest cycle time activities and reducing the losses in production at each workstation in an assembly line of automobile drive head.

Heat load inspection cum energy audit of AutoCAD laboratory in the department of mechanical engineering, St. John college of engineering and management.

A lot of productive activities are ongoing to bring our systems from Energy consumption to Energy Saving. In spite of the clean corridors and orderly placed laboratory instruments along with the energy conservative measures taken by teaching as well as non-teaching faculty, St. John College of Engineering, Palghar is facing comfort related issues due to addition of new infrastructure, which is restricting the advantage of green and eco-friendly environment from spreading all over the structure. The AutoCAD laboratory is an example of this scenario. A project was undertaken so that it’s Cooling Load and Energy consumption required by the system was analyzed. The aim was to calculate, design and suggest several implementations and modifications that will bring about desired comfort without altering the infrastructure. This will reduce the cooling load required and will save the electricity consumption. The rated power calculated for the single laboratory was around 30MW per year, which can be optimized if the appliance changes are made. The project further discusses some implementations, such as passive cooling, non-conventional methods of cooling and ventilation that will directly affect the humidity instead of heat load. Energy Audit is mostly done independently which restricts its generalization and puts it on its standard level of singular energy-saving implementation. EA when done with other activities and Inspections such as HLC, the simultaneous changes in readings can be observed accordingly. This helps in avoiding excessive calculation and future implementation of such audits.

Integrate IoT with cloud

In today’s world, integrating IoT with cloud computing is gaining popularity with cloud computing. To integrating IoT with the cloud can be done by using sensor nodes. This paper focused on the secure integration of cloud platform with IoT to achieve the data requirements of IoT. Cloud computing and IoT both regards to the wireless communications. Thus, it shows how the cloud computing technology improves the function of IoT. Thus we discussed the security challenges of IoT with cloud computing.
