A detailed survey and evaluation of various aspects of embedded software robustness testing

The focus of the current and future automotive, multimedia, and industrial automation systems is embedded software. The reliability of the embedded software system determines the performance of virtually every industrial application; one approach for determining a system's reliability is to measure its robustness. The aim of this paper is to provide a framework to understand the existing state-of-the-art practice in the robustness testing of built-in software systems. In robustness tests from different industrial domains, I've collected details on the state of practice on telecommunication, automotive, multimedia, critical infrastructure, aerospace, consumer products, and banking. I investigate various aspects of robustness testing, such as the general view of robustness, engineering, and design of specifications, test results, failure, and equipment. I emphasize the state of understanding of the robustness testing practice of integrated software systems. The survey outlines many ad-hoc techniques, including power failure and overload situations. Other discrepancies I found concern the classification of robustness defects, the assumed root causes of robustness defects, and the types of devices for testing robustness. This article is an initial step in the evaluation of the robustness testing practice of embedded software systems.

Effects of rain on cricket and the counter measures required

The purpose of this study was to examine the consequences of rain in a cricket match and examine the various methods that can be used to get a fair result in such a situation. This data includes a list of 200 matches that were affected by rain and the result shifted in favor of the losing team due to the unjust methods of resetting a target. It also includes information on how to prevent rain to influence a match and the pros and cons of the same. It suggests that interrupted matches a missing data problem the outcome of the complete match cannot be observed and the outcome of the interrupted match is observed. In particular, we consider the overall and conditional accuracy of a rain rule. Based on our study we come to know that the Duckworth lewis system, currently adopted by the ICC { International Cricket Council} is not as accurate and efficient as it doesn't include all the factors during a run chase. Therefore, through this research paper, we are going to give two alternate methods to the Duckworth- lewis method and also include various measures that can be taken to minimize the effect of rain.

Transient & thermal analysis of automotive disc brakes using CFD software

Braking is one of the important functions of a vehicle. It is very important to design the braking system in such a way that the vehicle remains safe at the braking conditions. The disc brakes are commonly used in most vehicles. When the brakes are applied high amount of energy is dissipated from the disc brakes. The efficiency of the dissipation of the brakes defines the safety of the braking system. This depends on various parameters like the material, ambient temperature, braking power, heat transfer coefficient of the air on the surface of the disc brake. A computational fluid analysis (CFD) and thermal analysis are performed on the disc brake to study the heat dissipation characteristics of the designed disc brake. The surface heat transfer coefficient of the disc brake, velocity is studied in the ANSYS FLUENT solver and the structural-thermal analysis is performed in the ANSYS Workbench in which deformation and final temperature are calculated.

Heat Index predictions using statistical models for Mumbai (Colaba)

Heat Index is an important measure in determining the safety of temperature conditions for humans. Extreme heat can lead to dangerous, even deadly, health consequences, including heat stress and heatstroke. Thus, there is a need to predict the Heat Index accurately in order to warn individuals about such conditions so that they take appropriate precautions. In this paper, we look at weather data in Mumbai from 2008 to 2020 and attempt to come up with predictive models for the Heat Index. We carry out feature selection first in order to efficiently use a variety of algorithms to develop predictive models. We use various mathematical techniques such as Multiple Linear Regression (MLR), Simple Exponential Smoothing (SES), Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), and Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) models to predict the heat index. The experimental results are evaluated and compared using the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE). On experimenting with all four models, it was discovered that the ARIMA model yields the best predictive model having an RMSE of 0.354654 on testing data. This model is also concluded to be optimal as the residuals of this model are a gaussian white noise. Furthermore, the poor performance of MLR indicates that temperature cannot be accurately modeled through a linear function of the variables considered.

Psychological Impact of Covid-19 in India

The Covid-19 Pandemic has caused the world to go into lockdown. This lockdown and isolation from others have had a negative impact on the psychological and emotional health of many people. The objective of this study is to study the effect the Covid-19 pandemic has had on people of 16-36 years of age. This study has been conducted with a help of a survey completed by 160 participants of various backgrounds. The study suggests that more than 40% of the participants are experiencing anxiety and depression symptoms.
