Numerical and thermal analysis of ceramic coated M550D x Drive Sedan

The piston is considered to be one of the important parts of the internal combustion engine. It is a part which bears the pressure of the combustion of the gas inside the cylinder. Normally they are made up of cast iron which bears the gas weight. It is used to deliver the power via linking rod to the main shaft of the engine. Nowadays they are made of aluminum alloy to keep it lightweight. As the top surface of the piston has to bear the load, it is prudent to cover it with some coating material so that it could bear the thermal load. Piston made up of gray cast iron coated with ceramic material (MgZrO3) which is bonded by special material (NiCrAl) is intended for M550d x Drive sedan by machine design approach to resolve the dimensions of the piston and then it is modeled in ANSYS Workbench 17.1. The pressure of the 5 N/mm2 is applied on the piston. The equivalent stresses are found to be same for both coated and non-coated piston. Thermal analysis of both coated and the non-coated piston is done. The properties like equivalent stresses, temperature variation and total twist under pressure and thermal load are resolute with the change in the thickness of ceramic coating material. It is completed that ceramic coated piston is able to handle thermal load and is indifferent towards structural load.

Parametric optimization in machining on NIMONIC 75 alloy using Electrical Discharge Machining

The increasing demands of machining of complex shape geometries and their high surface finish and has further strengthened the need for non-traditional machining processes. Among various process, EDM has been explored to a large extent owing to surface finish and MRR are of crucial importance in the field of machining processes. Taguchi’s optimization technique, in order to optimize the cutting parameters in EDM for superalloys. The objective of the effect of EDM parameters on MRR, Surface finish for machining NIMONIC75 alloy. In this present study, superalloy is used as a workpiece, copper or copper Alloy Like Brass used as a tool and distilled water is used as a dielectric fluid For experimentation, Taguchi’s orthogonal array will be followed by ANOVA to identify the most significant factor. This would follow by developing an empirical relation and optimization study. Nimonic75 (Nickel chromium base Alloys) is the most commonly used alloy. His basic chemical composition is Ni,Cr,Ti,C,Si,Cu,Fe,andMn. Nimonic75 is significantly strong than other commercially pure nimonic whilst still retaining the same stiffness and thermal properties. Nimonic75 extensively used in Gas-turbine engines Heat-treating equipment and fixtures Nuclear engineering aerospace, medical, marine and chemical processing.

Numerical simulations of equivalent stress of a motorcycle wheel by using ANSYS

The design of a motorcycle wheel contains several complexes and attempt has been made to meet the requirements of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). By using UNIGRAPHICS (NX 7.5), it involves the drawing wants and design of a motorcycle wheel. The design in 6 degrees of freedom (DOF) for characteristics and durability has been developed. After designing of wheel, the material should be selected and to go through several analysis tests on ANSYS software. By apply different loads in existing Aluminium alloy wheel and analyze the bending stresses, the material has been changed from Aluminium alloy to Polyether-ether ketone, PEEK150GL30, PEEK90GL30 and PEEK150CA30 for the study. In the same design the materials has been changed one by one and applying unlike loads, and analyze the bending stresses. It is concluded that the existing design is suitable for plastic material. Plastic material will deform at a maximum load of 2452.5N (250Kg). So change the design and the resources and analyze the bending stresses and finally conclude that Aluminium alloy can be replaced by plastic material.

Comparative evaluation of gingival thickness in smokers and non-smokers

Smoking has its effects on the periodontium, which is reflected by morphologic and histologic changes in the gingiva. Gingival thickness is one among the factors, which has become a subject of considerable interest in periodontics both from the epidemiological and therapeutic point of view. By taking gingival thickness into consideration during treatment planning, more appropriate strategies for periodontal management may be developed, resulting in more predictable treatment outcomes. The purpose of the study was to estimate the gingival thickness in different regions of the mouth in smokers and non-smokers. The study group included 40 age-matched smokers and non-smokers with and without periodontitis. Gingival thickness assessment was done on 6 index teeth; 6 sites on each tooth by transgingival probing using 15 sizes endodontic reamer and thickness was measured using vernier caliper. A statistically significant difference in gingival thickness was observed in different sextants of mouth in smokers and non-smokers.

Guided bone regeneration and implant placement – A case report

Guided Bone Regeneration is a predictable method to enhance the volume of the bone in deficient recipient sites prior to the implant placement. Crestal bone resorption is an inevitable consequence of extraction. Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) can be done to regenerate adequate bone for successful implant placement. GBR can be performed by two different approaches: Simultaneous approach in which GBR performed simultaneously with implant placement and Staged approach in which GBR is done prior to the implant placement. Adequate blood supply plays a critical role in the regeneration

A design and analysis of Switched Beam Smart antenna using Butler Matrix

This paper describes the design and realization of a 4X4 Butler Matrix as a beam forming network along with 4 patch antenna arrays to obtain four beams, operating at 2.4 GHz. The simulation results are obtained using HFSS software and hardware is simulated on network analyzer Further the concept of multibeam switching is discussed with an idea of suspended feed in between two matrices.
