CFD based flow and heat transfer analysis of various ribs in solar air heater duct by continuous ribs on absorber plate

This article is present for a detailed investigation of the design of solar air heater having rib roughness on the absorber plate by using the application of computational fluid dynamics (CFD). In this Solar air heater an absorber plate is made of β€˜Al’ and roughened with transverse ribs due witch creates the turbulence in the flow of fluid (air) and increase the heat transfer from the absorber plate to the fluid. Quantity of heat transfer is depending on Nusselt number. Nusselt number depends on surface heat transfer coefficient β€˜h’. Heat transfer coefficient is strongly depends on the relative roughness height (e). Here ANSYS FLUENT v 14.5 is used to simulate fluid flow through a conventional solar air heater.

A Review on CFD analysis of heat transfer in a pipe having different External fin profile

All the electronic components release heat during their operation which must be transferred to the surrounding and its proper and intended operation and to avoid the damage of the equipment. The main aim of extended surfaces is to limit the maximum temperature in the metallic walls. Hence increase the possibility of using the least refractory material and minimizing the material and processing cost. Generally, the extended surfaces (fins) are made up of the materials having high conductivity like aluminium. The heat transfer will depend on the geometry of the fin like length, thickness, cross sectional area, width, spacing between the fins and the operating parameters such as heat supplied to the device, material of the fin, orientation of the fins, temperature difference between the fin and surrounding, number of fins, fin array orientation etc.as the electronic devices and engines developed, heat generated from them increases and while the surface area of the electronic equipment decreases continuously.

CFD analysis of heat transfer in a pipe having different External fin profile

The heat transfer rate to a fluid flowing in pipe can be enhanced by the use of fins. This thesis concerned with computer simulation study of tube with different fins used to enhance their heat transfer performance subjected to natural convection heat transfer. In the present study the performance of a heated pipe having fins of various configurations using ANSYS 15.0 is analysed. The material under consideration is aluminium and the free stream fluid is air. Base width and height of the fin were kept constant for all the three types. The heat transfer rate from the fins and the overall heat transfer rate has been calculated and compared for various fin configurations. Also the overall heat transfer co-efficient has been found out. Temperature contours for various fin configuration has been plotted showing the convection loops formed around the heated pipe surface. After comparing it is shown that we can find that the best configuration for this type of convective heat transfer of a heated pipe is a trapezoidal fin as they have the highest total heat transfer rate.

In order to improve performances, in terms of higher thermodynamic efficiency and power output for heat exchanging devices like solar air heaters, heat exchangers and machines like gas turbines, the study of heat transfer mechanism and fluid flow play a vital role. Thermal assessment of heat exchanging devices, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) approach has advantages over the cost effecting practical experiments. To understand the complete phenomenon of heat transfer, heat flow as well as fluid flow must be considered in numerical analysis. Hence, accurate numerical method turbulence model and equation solving approach are required to predict heat transfer behaviour.

Feature selection: A review

Feature selection is an important process in machine learning, whose goal is to find a small number of features by removing irrelevant and/or redundant features. The main idea of feature selection is to choose a subset of input variables by eliminating features with or no predictive information. Feature selection removes dimensionality reduction problem. It is best for high dimensional data. Feature selection methods can be divided into three classes. One of is filter methods and another one is wrapper method and the third one is embedded method. This is one of two ways of avoiding the curse of dimensionality. This work reviews several fundamental feature selection algorithms found in the literature.

Automated street lighting system using IoT

In this modern era where energy is a major concern worldwide, it is our prior responsibility & liability to save energy effectively. With the development of technology, where automation system plays a vital role in daily life experience and it is being preferred over the traditional manual system today. Here we propose an IOT based street light monitoring and controlling system to ensure, low power consumption, instant faulty light detection and light dimming as per external lighting conditions. Our proposed system consists of smart street lights that have external light sensing that automatically turns on at the desired intensity based on an amount of lighting needed.
